Allowance and Chores

E has a list of chores she is to complete every week if not daily and she is rewarded with $5 on Friday night. We've been doing this for a couple weeks now, I think almost two months, and she has been doing really well. She really likes the idea of getting a reward for helping out. Of the $5, we put $3 into her piggy bank (Savings) and let her keep the other $2 to do with as she wishes. She really wants to get her ears pierced, which we are fine with. So when we were at the mall we asked how much it would be and told her she had to save up that money if she really wanted to get them done. I know a 5 year old really doesn't grasp the concept of not spending your money right away on things you want but she is doing a really good job. She has only spent her money on two things, both a dollar each. S and I have tried to persuade her otherwise but these are the two things that she really wanted and wouldn't have gone away without them.
