The last couple weeks have been crazy. The first week in February was all about running around and trying to get things done. It started with Super Bowl Sunday, which also happens to be E’s birthday. We went out to one of our friends for a party, whose wives birthday is that day too. We had cake and relaxed as we watched the game but didn’t get home till late due to the time the game was on.
That Monday at E’s school we were going to do a birthday celebration. We needed to bring in a snack, semi healthy and not too sweet, and some pictures. Me being me forgot about the pictures till that morning and hadn’t had the time to run by the store to pick up a snack yet so all day I was making pictures look nice on paper and had to run to the store to pick up blueberry muffins. I finished the pictures 10 mins before I had to be in the classroom, luckily I only work 5 mins from there and picked up the snack on my lunch break. I pictures turned out great, which are now part of E’s scrapbook, and everything went off greatly. The celebration is so cute. They have us tell a story from each year of her life and then have all the kids say happy birthday to her and something nice. If was really cute.
The rest of the week was spent running around trying to get ready for her birthday party. We still had to buy everything and had no idea on how to entertain 12 kids for an hour. We finally can up with them decorating canvas bags to take home, didn’t have to do party favors then, and played a game of mummy. I got wrapped up in toilet paper, all the kids got wrapped up if they wanted too, they all had fun and we made a huge mess which is always a good time for kids.
The weekend was spent with the McDermott grandparents. They came up to spend the week with E for her birthday. We ended up going to Out of Africa and watching a few shows of the animals and feeding giraffes If was really cool because the last time we went the giraffes weren’t hungry and the tigers didn’t want to play in the water with the people. This time we got up close and personal with the giraffes, one actually scared me it got so close without me knowing, and we got to see tigers and bears play in the water. E also got to pet a turtle. The day was a little windy but at least it didn’t rain or snow like it said it was going to. We went out to dinner and had a party back at the hotel that night. E had a “sleep over” in the hotel with them and had a ton of fun. The next morning we woke up to find snow on the ground and it didn’t look like it was going to get better.
Sunday, the day of her big party, was a challenge. It was snowing since noon and just got worse as the day went on. We know that we were going to be at the party but didn’t know how many other kids would show up. We got there and started setting up and then one kid after another started showing up too. All 12 came and they seem to have fun. Swimming seems to be a big hit with kids that young and with their parents. This pool is really cool because they have a kid’s area with slides and things for them to play on. E and her best friend seem to have the time of their lives together. It was really nice having it inside too due to the snow. We were warm and wet while outside was snowy and cold.
This week is a lot quieter but know that at the end of the month it’s going to pick up again. E finished level 1 of her swim lessons and is moving on to level 2. She is starting to get the strokes down and loves going under water now. She should be able to swim a little by the end of this level. She’s really excited to start soccer in April and wants to go back to gymnastics, which we may try a different place this time to get her more experience at different stuff instead of doing the same thing over and over again. We had a doctor’s appointment and everything is going great so far with K and me. We have only 10 more weeks and are really excited. I feel that I’m going to go into labor early for some reason. We started stocking up on baby wipes and the essentials that we’re going to need other then cloths. We haven’t started on diapers yet since Grandma said she had a bunch and we don’t know how fast he’ll out grow the new born ones. Grandma is the greatest mother-in-law ever, she’s throwing us a baby shower at the end of the month and has almost everything planned and it look fantastic. (I got a sneak peak over the weekend and think it is totally AWESOME!!) I’m really excited about that.
So life has been crazy around the McDermott house and doesn’t seem to be getting any better.
